Modeling Near-Miscible Gas Foam Injection in Fractured Tight Rocks and Its Challenges

نویسندگان

چکیده

Unlocking oil from tight reservoirs remains a challenging task, as the existence of fractures and oil-wet rock surfaces tends to make recovery uneconomic. Injecting gas in form foam is considered feasible technique such for providing conformance control reducing gas-oil interfacial tension (IFT) that allows injected fluids enter matrix. This paper presents modeling strategy aims understand behavior near-miscible injection find optimal depending on reservoir pressure availability. Corefloods with following into fractured were simulated history matched using compositional commercial simulator. The simulation results agreed experimental data respect both gradient during schedules. Additional simulations carried out by increasing strength changing composition. It was found or proportion ethane could boost production rate significantly. When gets miscible near miscible, model would face serious challenges, phases not be distinguished simulator, while they have essentially different effects presence terms modeling. We provide in-depth thoughts discussions potential ways improve current models account conditions.

Lab and Field Scale Modeling of Near Miscible CO2 Injection in Different Porous Mediums

The main purpose of this investigation is to study the effect of near miscible CO2 injection in different porous mediums on both lab and field scales. This effect can be traced by the change of two-phase gas-oil relative permeability curves. In this work, the experiments have been performed on three rock types (i.e. sandstone, dolomite, and artificial fractured sandstone) based on an incrementa...

An Effective EOS Based Modeling Procedure for Minimum Miscibility Pressure in Miscible Gas Injection

The measurement of the minimum miscibility pressure (MMP) is one of the most important steps in the project design of miscible gas injection for which several experimental and modeling methods have been proposed. On the other hand, the standard procedure for compositional studies of miscible gas injection process is the regression of EOS to the conventional PVT tests. Moreover, this procedure d...

Numerical Modeling of Diffusion in Fractured Media for Gas-Injection and -Recycling Schemes

Diffusion in fractured reservoirs, unlike in unfractured reservoirs, can affect significantly the efficiency of gas injection in oil reservoirs and recycling in gas/condensate reservoirs. The physical diffusion, similar to gravity, results in the change of the path of the injected gas species from the fractures to the matrix, giving rise to late breakthrough. In this work, we present, for the f...
